Meet The Maker: Patrice Sheffield Jackson, Sweet Honey Rose Co.

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start Sweet Honey Rose Co?

My name is Patrice, and I am a wife, mother of two, finance professional, photographer and Founder of Sweet Honey Rose Co. The inspiration behind Sweet Honey Rose Co emerged after our first daughter, Miss Kennedi Rose, suffered an allergic reaction to a supposedly "all-natural" product. Determined to find a solution, we began creating our own all-natural soaps, carefully selecting ingredients that were safe and beneficial for delicate skin. Over time, we recognized a gap in the market for essential care products that not only nurture the skin but also promote mental well-being. This realization led us to expand our product line, focusing on wellness for the body, mind, and soul.

What's been the best thing about starting your own business?

The greatest joy of entrepreneurship for me is the freedom it offers and the discovery of hidden talents. Owning a business has not only fulfilled me personally but has also boosted my confidence in various aspects. Additionally, the connections I've made through Sweet Honey Rose Co have been invaluable, allowing me to meet incredible individuals along this journey.

Do you have any advice or encouragement for someone starting their own handmade business?

My advice is to start now and refine along the way. Often, we let doubts, fears, and the opinions of others hinder our progress, causing us to abandon potentially great ideas. When I began, I had no prior knowledge of soapmaking and had to educate myself through numerous resources. Once I felt prepared, I took the leap and created my first batch of soap. Therefore, my mantra is to start now and perfect later, while disregarding the noise from the outside. If you need any support, feel free to reach out to me on Instagram @sweethoneyroseco. I would love to be a guiding light and provide encouragement on your entrepreneurial path.

What's your favorite book or TV show?

Although I don't have a favorite TV show, I can recommend two books that have greatly influenced me: "The Alchemist" and "48 Days to the Work You Love."

What is your favorite soap right now?

Selecting a single favorite soap is challenging, as it often depends on my mood. However, lately, I have been enjoying our Charcoal Soap Bar, particularly after my workouts. Additionally, our new Golden Hour Soap Bar has captured my attention with its warm and inviting aroma, making it perfect for the cool fall and winter days and nights.
