Gary and Heidi Chichester of Flow Inspirations

Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start Flow Inspirations?

I'm Gary Chichester and I'm married to Heidi and have 2 daughters that are 18 and 12.  We live in Suwanee, GA and I grew up in Brooklyn, NY.

I made my first sign as a gift for my wife and things kind of went from there.

What's been the most exciting thing about starting your business?

Meeting people!  Both other makers and folks that enjoy our signs.
What advice would you give someone starting a handmade business?
Be patient and willing to work. It takes time and effort to build positive momentum. Also, make sure to pay attention to what your customers like. It should guide you in relation to the items you focus on masking.

What's your favorite book/movie or tv show?
The Shawshank Redemption will stop me in my tracks whenever it’s on.
Since your "Shelf Talkers" are a best seller for us, what is your favorite bible verse?
1 Peter 4:10
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
How do you come up with your Bible "translations"?
Usually I hear a phrase or statement and I work backwards and find a verse. I have a bunch of phrases written down in my notes app that I may or may not use in the future. In some cases, a verse will speak to me and I’ll come up with something witty that way.
It’s a process that I really enjoy.
