One of our goals here at Evimero Marketplace has been spread the word about fair trade brands and social entrepreneurs that use their business acumen to bring opportunities for change to communities worldwide.
We partner with brands that bring artisans and buyers together to create mutually beneficial relationships that create change in both local communities through a small business like ours and systemic change in parts of the world where even access to basic needs are limited.
Most of what we do is trade and product driven so we wanted to incorporate a way to support non-profits in our community that are doing other sorts of work. From doing response work when a natural disaster hits to training service dogs for people in our Atlanta area the hands and feet of God are all over the world with little fanfare.
Our goal is to not only be able to serve them financially as we can but also to bring awareness about the work they are doing.
So for the month of August we are starting with a faith based organization that has been around since the mid-90's named Convoy Of Hope. I just found out that the founder will actually be speaking at our church this upcoming weekend (I'm sure that's not a coincidence). Since the fires in Maui began, they have been out there providing relief work and providing for the basic needs of the thousands of people that have recently been displaced.
My family & I vacationed in Maui this summer and we fell in love with it's beauty and the friendliness of the people.
In September a % of our proceeds will go to the Mighty Millie Foundation. I was introduced to this local organization through my neighbors who are Millie's aunt and uncle. Mighty Millie's goal is to bring joy to kids undergoing cancer treatment one popsicle at a time.
In 2020 Millie was diagnosed with a rare form of pediatric cancer and sadly passed at the age of 3. Her parents started the foundation to bring awareness, raise funds and bring a little joy to families and kids undergoing treatment.
