Meet The Maker: Kailee Feirer; Broken Ankles Jewlery

Tell us a little about yourself and what inspired you to start Broken Ankles
My name is Kailee Feirer. I am 29 years old. You will never find me sitting still. I am either with friends, family or staying busy with my company! I started Broken Ankles as a hobby. When covid hit I was out of a job for a few months and saw people making clay jewelry, so I tried my hand at it. I never fully went full time with it until April of 2022.

What is your favorite thing about having your own business?
My favorite thing about having my own company is getting to set my own schedule, meeting so many new people and building a business I am excited about. I also love getting to look back at my growth and being proud of myself!

Do you have any advice for anyone looking to start their own handmade biz?
My advice would be to just go for it. I know that sounds so cliche, but I love getting to encourage people to start their own company. I am so passionate about it. My friend Nicole and I are actually starting a podcast about how you can start your own company and giving lots of good advice!

What is your favorite book, TV show or podcast you are watching or reading right now?
I honestly never really watch tv! I recently read the book Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez. I listen to the podcast called “That’s the Point”. It's just a very relatable and feel good podcast!

What is inspiring you now as you are going into the New year?
I am very inspired about figuring out what is working best for my company and what is not. I am tired of putting a lot of energy and time into business things that aren’t working. I hope to have the new year be a very intentional business year. With the new adventure of opening a new company as well is exciting and I feel a fresh of breath air. I’m inspired to encourage people and connect more with other small businesses!
